As of Tuesday Microsoft officially pulled the plug on Windows 10. Its successor was released four years ago, and by now you (and I) should have made our way to it. Windows 10 is, after all, a decade old, so it's ancient technology at this point. I haven't updated, though, and I don't plan to until I build myself a new PC, and that's whomst knows how far away.

It took me until this week to realize that emoji flags weren't showing up for me on Bluesky when viewed on my PC. You'd think I'd have noticed earlier given the Ukrainian flag in my display name, leaving a small-caps'd "UA" in place of the flag, but I guess I'm just that inattentive.

Emojis are clearly so important to human discourse that there's not just one simple keyboard shortcut for them but two: [win .] and [win ;]. But what about all the various international characters you might need to use every so often?

Windows prevents things that need admin permissions from running with normal startup methods ⸺ like adding a shortcut to an app to the startup folder within the Start menu. To force it to happen anyway, you'll instead need to load up the Task Scheduler and create a task that runs the desired app with the highest privileges available.
